How do we end Summer Academy at Pocomoke High School? Well, we celebrate with tie dye and s’mores, of course! It was a wonderful end to an epic Summer Academy, thanks to our amazing staff and incredible students. Families, thank you for sharing your children with us! ☀️💙💛

🌞 Is there anything better than a warm summer day spent with good friends? Our Summer Academy students and staff have learned firsthand how special a day like this can be! After planning and preparing a delicious picnic feast, we loaded up the bus and headed to the living shoreline at Assateague State Park. 🚌🌊 The students spent over 4 hours in the water, discovering some pretty amazing sea life while enjoying the relaxing, warm waters of the Bay. 🐠🏖️ After a delicious dinner filled with local fruits and veggies 🍉🥗, as well as hot dogs 🌭, we made our way to the ocean side of the park. The pictures 📸 are amazing, but they can’t fully capture the joy experienced by everyone on this trip! A huge thanks to Dr. Richard Warren for his vision and dedication, UMES, and our Summer Academy leadership for the incredible experience! A big shoutout to our Rising Juniors: Zaviana, Lamarquis, and Kalynne, along with our Rising Seniors: April and Kanae, pictured with teacher, Mr. Bratten, and Assistant Principal, Mr. Postell! 🎉 Our students earned Dual Enrollment credits in Educational Psychology and explored the incredible journey of being an educator. 💙💛 A special congratulations to Kanae for receiving the High School University Scholarship Award and to April for receiving the Content Specialist Award! 🌟 Keep shining, future educators! 🌞 Summer Academy spent the morning at Salisbury University 🏫 learning about the possibilities offered through post-secondary education 🎓. While exploring the campus and interacting with current SU undergraduates 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓, PHS students completed a scavenger hunt 🔍—identifying trees 🌳, various buildings 🏢, and counting dorms 🛏️. Bumping into a member of SU’s leadership team 🤝 was helpful in determining some of the more challenging questions ❓. It was a beautiful morning 🌤️ to begin learning about what could come after high school for our newest Pocomoke Warriors 💙💛!
