In celebration of Black History Month, each day Snow Hill High School will spotlight and celebrate the achievements of Worcester County’s African Americans educators. Today, we feature Mrs. Nyoka Mumford.
Mrs. Mumford, a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, is a 3rd grade teacher at Snow Hill Elementary School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Primary Education from Delaware State University and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Wilmington University. Her inspiration for becoming a teacher is to help others learn.
In the words of Mrs. Mumford “You can find pictures of me as a young child pretending to be a teacher with my chalk, chalkboard, and books. If I could offer advice, it would be: don’t let opportunities pass you by. I believe that we should be thankful for the people who fought hard before us to get an education. Be your own star and shine!
